George Sakier

Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1897, George Sakier spent his early career as an art director for French Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Modes and Manners. Sakier later turned to industrial design, attributing the First International Design Exhibition in Munich as his inspiration.

Beginning in 1927, Sakier developed designs for the American Radiator and Standard Sanitation Company, and, in 1929, designed functional modern objects such as bathroom fixtures and domestic glassware for the Fostoria Glass Company. His first bathroom design was installed at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City in 1931.

George Sakier died in Paris, France, in 1988.
